today my wisdom is: the ecological crisis of our planet is not a thing that will Suddenly destroy us sometime in the next century—it has taken decades of continuous work for our biosphere to be preserved thus far, and it will take decades more of continuous work to continue preserving it.
The apocalypse is not a single event hovering in the future bearing down on us while we sit helplessly. We are at least 150 years into an ongoing “apocalypse.”
Things will continue to steadily get worse without steady action, but “augh! it’s already too late to stop climate change and mass extinctions!” is specifically the worst response
some advice for beginner artists who don’t wanna use those premade color palettes, also don’t forget that the base hue itself can be many variations of red/orange!
In case you missed it, here’s a #TutorialTuesday someone requested on Twitter to go with last week’s process video on how to create a perspective grid from a photo (from Tomomi Sato) which you can use for studies, drawings, paintings, etc. Hope this helps with drawing/painting in perspective!!
Decided to draw my own interpretations of some iconic SCPs!
Notes about these depictions:
- I doodled up the rough idea for my SCP-173 design one day and I instantly grew attached to it. I LOVE how wonderfully horrid he looks XD
- The design I came up with for SCP-682 is heavily inspired by the Competitive Eschatology canon. I started with 682’s “glorified” form (a leonine dragon with feathers, wings, quills and six eyes) and worked backwards from there. He’s covered in sparse feathering and has a pair of bone fragments on his back where his wings used to be. I also was heavily inspired by Envy from Fullmetal Alchemist, whom 682 always reminded me of.
- This is actually the first time I’ve drawn SCP-096’s face! I think I may have made him look a little too “cute” XD Also friendly reminder that his anomalous effects don’t work in artistic renderings.
- Speaking of faces, I know there’s no mention of SCP-999 having one, but I couldn’t NOT give him one for maximum cuteness! I’m not too fond of the face everyone gives him, though, with the tiny mouth and all that. I much prefer the idea of him having a big goofy grin ^_^
